Spots on your Pear tree – Pear Rust!

This is PEAR RUST.  If you have brown and orange spots on your pear trees this spring – it is PEAR RUST.  This is a weather-related leaf fungus that is rampant this year.  The cool and very wet spring has made perfect conditions for all sorts of leaf fungus.  There is no treatment for this disease and it is mostly an aesthetic problem that does not warrant any type of treatment.  Sweep or rake any fallen leaves and dispose of them so the spores do not continue to reinfect the tree.  Please call us if you have any questions or if you need us to come and check out your yard.
