Now Hiring – MFS is Growing Our Staff!

Metropolitan Forestry Services, Inc. is hiring! We are a well established tree care and landscape development company proudly serving the St. Louis area since 1976.  We are currently looking for experienced outdoor professionals to fill positions in our tree, plant health care, and landscape divisions. MUST HAVE: working knowledge of trees and shrubs, excellent tree and shrub identification skills, formal classroom experience and/or field experience in the arboriculture and green industry, a valid driver’s license (Class B preferred), good communication skills, safety conscious & an ability to pass a drug test and physical exam.

Currently hiring for the positions of:

Tree Climbers and Trimmers:

Tree trimming and maintenance operations are an important part of our business.  The tree climber position performs general tree care operations: removals, pruning, cabling & bracing, lightning protection.  This position requires:

  • Basic climbing experience and skills, and proper use of rigging and climbing gear.
  • Ability to prune any size tree without the use of spikes or gaffs
  • Proficiency in removing trees safely and efficiently
  • Ability to drive large standard transmission trucks
  • Strong Tree Identification Skills
  • Ability to acquire ISA Arborist certification within one year
  • Having full knowledge of how all tree work equipment is used to complete work in the most efficient and safest way possible (i.e. chain saws, pole and hand saws, pole pruners, saddles, ropes, carabineers, aerial lift, and chipper equipment).
  • Effectively participate in all job site safety briefings.
  • Must be able to identify and mitigate on-site hazards (i.e. ensuring work areas are clearly and properly marked with cones, signs, etc.)
  • The climber will also assist the ground crew with all jobs including removing debris, chipping brush, and cleaning up the site after each job.
  • A desire to learn and grow in this field, and a positive attitude


Plant Health Care Technician:

Plant Health Care (PHC) Technicians provide a key link between our clients and properties with our sales and office staff. While technical Plant Health Care knowledge is important for this position, communication skills are also very important.  This position requires:

  • Missouri State Applicators License (or ability to acquire one) and ability to adhere to industry, safety, and environmental standards for using fertilizers and pesticides.
  • Excellent tree identification skills
  • Ability to evaluate, monitor, and treat insect and disease problems.
  • Competence in operating, calibrating, and maintaining PHC equipment (i.e. pumps, mixing equipment, etc.).
  • Ability to drive large, standard transmission trucks
  • Commitment to timely and quality customer service. PHC technicians work closely with arborists and clients, providing critical feedback and recommending the appropriate treatments to plant health care problems.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as assist other operations when needed.
  • The desire to learn and grow in this field, and a positive attitude


Landscape Technician or Landscape Foreman:

Hiring Tree Trimmers

Landscape operations help refine and shape our surroundings.  To excel as a Landscape foreman we look for someone that has an attention to detail and an ability to communicate.  This position requires:

  • Excellent plant identification skills
  • Load and unload material between jobs.
  • Install plant material (annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees), mulch, light hardscaping, low voltage lighting, ponds, etc. as required and according to industry standards.
  • Maintain planting beds including trimming, dividing, and transplanting.
  • Operate various equipment and machinery (ex. sod cutter, chainsaw, stump-grinder, skid-steer).
  • The desire to learn and grow in this field, and a positive attitude
